Orange Vinyl: Sustainable Style from the Whitsundays' Rag Trade Royalty
The journey of Orange Vinyl is steeped in the history of Airlie Beach fashion and a deep commitment to sustainable fashion.
Growing up, owner Leola Adams was immersed in fabric, learning the trade from her mum, a “trailblazer” who opened the area’s first fully designed and handmade boutique, Moochas, back in the ’80s.
Leola, an incredible pattern maker and seamstress herself, has returned to her roots to create clothing that is both sustainable and perfectly suited for the Whitsundays’ outdoor lifestyle.
At her market stall, you can purchase a truly ‘one-of-a kind’ piece.
Leola is a true artisan: she designs the patterns, sews, and even hand-dyes every single piece of clothing in her range.
She makes the full range from kids to adults, using either vintage fabric (recycling to save the world, as she puts it) or Australian loomed cotton knit.
She is also dedicated to supporting the two remaining Australian Knitting looms.
The market provides the perfect platform to meet appreciative travellers—backpackers, world travellers, and grey nomads—from all corners of the globe.
With her knowledge passed down through an incredible lineage of women entrepreneurs, Leola offers unique, climatic clothing, proudly handmade right here in the Whitsundays.
